How to Choose a Property For Stay in Tadoba?

The National Park being a jungle is away from the city, hence choosing the right place to stay is essential for a comfortable and convenient safari experience.

Here are the 3 most important things you should consider before booking your stay.

Location
Staying at a property close to the safari gate is the numero uno factor that you should consider when booking a property as
– it saves money on renting a car for your entire trip to take you to safari gates from your property, as your hotel can arrange a cheap commute for you
– it lets you reach the safari gate early and significantly cuts down wait time
– it gives you access to small shops selling snacks, tea, biscuits, etc. (The area close to the Moharli Gate also has shops offering camera gear on rent, selling safari jackets, gloves and memory cards)

Amenities
Since most properties are located in the buffer zone, stepping out of the hotel after safari hours is not recommended. Plus, the network is also unreliable in many resort areas and the wi-fi at properties is often weak. So to keep yourself engaged throughout your stay, a property with essentials like a pool, and indoor games makes for a fantastic choice.

Meals

   The huge area of the Tadoba National Park is divided into 4 zones with several gates in each zone. None of these zones can be considered the best, as spotting a tiger largely depends on luck, regardless of the time or zone you visit.
   
   I also believe that a safari in Tadoba National Park is an enthralling experience in itself—one that truly makes you appreciate nature and its raw elements.
   
   The park offers an unparalleled feeling of venturing deep into the jungle, making the experience just as rewarding beyond tiger sightings alone.
   
   That said, the Moharli Zone is the most popular as it books the most safaris, while the Navegaon and Kolara Zones also offer good chances of tiger sightings.
   
2. Which gate is the best in Tadoba?
   Each zone has multiple gates and since all the gates of a particular zone take you to the same internal area, no gate can be termed as the best.

3. Is the core zone better or the buffer zone better?
   The core zone is strictly protected, with minimal human activity. Vehicles must adhere to a speed limit of 30 km/h, off-roading is prohibited, and silence must be maintained—meaning no communication via two-way radio.
   
   This does take away the adrenaline rush that buffer zone safaris offer, where there is no speed limit and constant communication between jeeps alerts you when a tiger is spotted elsewhere, allowing for a chase.
   
   The buffer zones have also reported good sightings, especially during summer when tigers wander farther in search of water.
   
   For a holistic experience, I suggest booking a mix of both buffer zone and core zone safaris.
   
4. How many days are enough to stay in Tadoba?
   To maximize wildlife sightings and fully experience the park, I recommend booking 3 safaris during summer and 4 during winter making a minimum stay of two nights ideal.
