Robot serving samosas to a guest of the Robo Café

Have you ever wanted to be served coffee by a robot? Or wondered what it feels like to sit in a café where machines quietly handle the work? Or have you heard about the Robo Café in Ahmedabad and want more details to help you plan your trip?

Regardless of what brings you to this article, let me assure you that this article is a comprehensive guide to the Robo Café in Ahmedabad, based on my own personal experience of visiting it. The Robo Café is a unique tourist attraction – it’s futuristic, affordable, and surprisingly efficient once you know how it works.

In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to plan your visit: how to reach the café, what to expect inside, and a few practical tips to help you make the most of your visit to the café.

How to Access Robo Café

The first fact that you should know is that the Robo Café is not a standalone establishment. It is located inside Gujarat Science City, right next to the Robotics Gallery.

That means that you will need a Science City entry ticket to visit. The general entry fee is ₹50 for adults. But since there are plenty of other attractions inside such as the Aquatic Gallery or Planetarium, buy a combo package instead.

The ₹349 and ₹499 options include multiple experiences and cost less than buying separate tickets.

Once you’ve entered, follow the signs toward the Robotics Gallery. The café sits right beside it and doesn’t require an additional ticket.

What to Expect Inside The Robo Café?

Robo Café is built around one simple idea: robots serving food. Humans take your order, but the rest of the process is automated. It’s quick, clean, and enjoyable to watch, especially for families with children.

But many families end up wasting a lot of time or not getting a hang of the place simply because they didn’t plan their visit well.

So here are a few practical tips that will ensure a smooth experience –

1. Order wisely

The menu includes everything from tea, coffee, and milkshakes to sandwiches, fries, and pizzas. But cooked dishes such as sandwiches or pizzas take at least 20 minutes to prepare. If you’re short on time, stick to the faster options. Ready-to-serve items like tea, coffee, and ice cream are served within minutes.

2. Sit at the seat assigned to you

Once you order, you’ll be given a table number. Sit exactly there, because the robot is programmed to deliver food to that specific seat. If you move, it won’t find you and you won’t get to eat what you ordered.

3. Expect good value for money

Prices are reasonable for such a modern café. Drinks start at ₹50, sandwiches at ₹150, and pizzas go up to ₹300. Many people who ordered Tandoori Paneer Pizza and Cheese Chilly Sandwich were happy with the taste but the waiting time of over 20 minutes just didn’t feel worth it for me.

Since the experience of being served by a robot is what makes this place unique, we ordered icecreams and tea on our visit.

But even if you decide to order food here, you wil find that the portions are fair and ideal for a light meal between gallery visits.

4. Robots do the serving

The highlight of this café is watching your tray glide across the café on a robot’s platform. The system is smooth and precise. Staff are present but do not interfere as the robots efficiently handle delivery.

Once the robot reaches your table, you should offload your food items from the tray. Don’t worry, the robot waits long enough to let you transfer all your ordered items from the tray to the table. After waiting for a few additional seconds after you have cleared the food from its tray, it turns around and goes back to the kitchen area.

5. Keep your UPI ready

The café accepts UPI payments only. Network strength can be weak inside Science City, and if your transaction doesn’t go through, you might have to wait since cash isn’t accepted. Keep your data connection strong or have a backup UPI app ready.

Worth the Visit?

So does that make the Robo Café worth a visit? 100%.

If you’re already exploring Science City, Robo Café is worth a stop. It’s not about gourmet dining but about watching technology in action.

The service is efficient, the food is affordable, and the experience fits perfectly with Science City’s focus on innovation.

But if Science City is not in your itinerary or if it doesn’t interest you – the café isn’t worth modifying your itinerary for.
